Came across you guys last week when doing a.search to see what the Score host exactly said to get fired. I remember being part of a radio message board years ago.
There was another topic on Chicago radio signals and WNDZ was mentioned. I know last year it broadcast programming from the Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN). The final week they were on a local host said the station would be signing off and going dark. So I would tune in at sunset just to hear how they would permanently sign off. That was several months ago.
They just run commercial free music now and most of it ain’t too bad. Does anyone know is the station for sale? Seems like it is just losing tons of money for owners.

Hi Detective Tom,
They are unable to sell airtime. Like most Brokered AM stations, especially AM Daytimers, the brokered time has imploded. You can thank the Internet and the overall decline of the AM band, the younger people not even knowing what it is. AM Daytimers with no FM translator attached to it have little to no value monetarily or to serve the public.
Someone else might have a more definitive answer, I do not think it is for sale. I imagine they are trying to figure out what to do with it. Fred Eychaner is getting old and they are restructuring NewsWeb (the parent company). Personally, I would not be surprised if they can't find a buyer, they will shut it off, give the license to the FCC and sell off the land where the transmitter/towers are on.

If they are keeping it on in hopes of finding a buyer, it's gonna be a long wait.

They actually let all of the leases, including the WSFI one (EWTN) expire.
They'll probably get rid of the land.
The music you hear was normal programming during certain hours when they did not lease airtime. Frequently during summer hours from sign on to 7AM or so which would go away in the fall.

It's like going to the store for something specific, then buying other things. I've done that too.
I was the one who posted something about this station (late last year). No, they did not renew their leases , and are on life support. It's just a matter of time before they're finished.
They are one of the few (in 2025) that still do not stream online, and have a crystal-clear, FM station. That's terrible. That gets a station like 750 even further in the hole. 850, 1240, 1470 didn't either.
The music is 50/50. Some of it is 50s/60s oldies. Some of it is fun 70s/80s classic hits, if not AC. Some of it is current day AC crap (like what you hear, sometimes, at the store).
I'd go along with...They are figuring out what to do at this point. I think 750 is about to go belly-up (let's hope not).
Also, look at their dial position. While it's lower-end AM, they are sandwiched in, between 780 and 720. Again, they have no FM and no streaming. That's not good.
We'll see what happens as 2025 moves on forward. I love discussion about these little stations.

It's a good signal. They upgraded it from 5kw a few years after they bought it.
It's been brokered programming since the 90s. I think it was initially a Christian format.
Unless Fred simply likes the music, I figure they'll sell the land and turn it off like they did with WAIT and WCFJ.

I remember in the late 90s, or early 00s, listening to a morning or afternoon program on WCFJ, I do not think it was WSBC. I won four tickets to a then WWF wrestling show at the Rosemont. They were pretty good seats too!
Had to drive out to Chicago Heights to pick up the tickets. Wish I could remember the names of the two hosts. They were young guys who were pretty good.

Yes, WNDZ was Contemporary Christian when it signed on in 1987 and was owned by Universal Broadcasting who also owned 540 WYLO Jackson, Wi. (Now WAUK)

I agree with that. I was going to ask, when exactly did WNDZ go from (then) contemporary Christian, to brokered ethnic?
I first discovered them, as well as WSBC and WCFJ, in the late 90s. It during one of multiple, South Asian (Indo Pak) shows. So, wasn't WCFJ also like WNDZ (Christian/relglious), when they debuted on 1470, in the late 80s?
The programming on all 3 stations was great, in the early years of Newsweb/Access Radio. All kinds of shows were on. I mean, all kinds. I cannot believe that was 20-25 years ago today.
I do remember LGBT content (which would fit really well today), as well as that sports show. I think that was on in the late morning. I remember the Russian "Lunchtime Radio," followed at 12 noon. That slot today is "Italian Radio Theater." 11 AM-12 Noon (which was on 1430 for a while, in the afternoon, on weekdays). I remember in early 2009, the sports show was gone.
What about Neil Tesser's jazz show, "Miles Ahead?" His humorous delivery and mix of music was second to none. Upon some research, Neil Tesser was a DJ at WBEZ, years ago (back when many big names were DJ's there).
If I recall correctly, it was 1998, when Newsweb bought 1470, started the simulcast of WSBC, and started Access Radio (which included 750 and 1240.)
I remember hearing (throughout the week, on 750): unique content, on the Eastern European shows. I couldn't turn it off. I heard 78's and songs from the early 20th Century (many of which are on YouTube).
It's all up to Fred. We have memories (I recorded as much as I could of 750 and 1470). Whatever happens, happens. As the song goes, "Que Sera Sera." Best of luck to 750, Access Radio, Newsweb, and Fred. Again...let's see how this plays out.

Entravision bought 750 in late 90s. They also owned 99.9 in Park Forest and 103.9 in Dundee, which simulcast a Spanish format, Super Estrella. They kept the brokered format on 750.
103.9 went to NextMedia in early 2004. Newsweb bought 99.9 and 750. Nine FM went on 99.9, the brokered format continued on 750. Fit right in with their programming.
A lot of the filler music on 750 was played on Nine FM.
