"To-Block"

The term, “To-Block”, was used by Signalmen, “Flags”, to hoist flag signals to the blocks to execute the message portrayed by the flags (as told to me by the Signalman on my ship). The term was also used when hoisting the American Flag to the blocks each morning. Did the term have any other usage aboard ship? In Naval Aviation the term “To-Block Everything” was used to mean maximum power for take-off especially aboard the Carrier in both normal and catapult launchings. Any other usage? John Haynes
