Yes, Fran, I remember using semaphore flags many times. However, we used flashing light for almost all our message sending.
The flag hoist was also used for signals from the Commodore in command and many times from the escort commander.
In addition we used the TBY radio some for voice transmissions.
Those were the "good old days"!!!
