This is a British source. Pretty balanced. Admits risk. We're closer to this than you think. The gamble is not quite as "insane" as it might seem. And the potential is greater in multiple ways than the potential from the Constellation program. If the current program is failing, and you've got to make a change, at least change to something with high potential rewards. (High rewards often come with high risk.)
I found this while trying (without success...yet) to look up past articles I had read on pairing the LCS with Ghost Fleet Overlord, which I never bothered to bookmark. The results were favorable. It looks like we will get the unmanned ships first. The manned "ideal control platform" can come later. At this point, an LCS with a "flock" of new production USVs is more progress than a stalled 12% complete frigate. "Desperate times call for desperate measures."

Yes - the course was changed. But if "We can't dither anymore" is the maxim, then to switch to a non existing design is a very bold move. Or in other words: it is a prime example of dithering: "we are sure the current way is wrong, but we do not know which one could be better".
