One advantage of the MASC is that, although each one would be easy to destroy, a significant proportion of a ship's or submarine's weapon payload would have to be used because of their number. Even for larger MASCs, using a submarine torpedo or a standard anti-ship missile would be excessive. The answer to such a naval threat would probably be a large number of small loitering munitions transported to the area by a long-range missile.
