Has anyone made an "adapter" out of one that eliminates the tube all together? Like make a plate, hard attach that carrier bearing inside the rubber doughnut to it, reattach the yoke as close as you can to it and attach the splined cup inside? I do have access to auto cad 2016, waterjet at work, welders, etc so it should be interesting...

Sure a custom driveshaft will be needed but shouldnt be that much/hard...
