I've cleaned the parking brake cables on other stuff though. Generally you can't pull the cable out enough to clean the whole thing. you end up having to work the cable back and forth in the housing to work the lubricant in/dirt out. It can be pretty time consuming to do depending on how far the cable will extend out of the housing. I usually try to elevate one end of the housing (usually the cleanest looking end) and spray lube/ cleaner in the high end, then work the cable back and forth to work it in and hopefully work any grit out of the lower end. Usually there is multiple iterations of spray then work cable. I’ve just used WD-40 as the lube, I’ve never tried a grease. I’d think you’d want to start with something thin like WD-40 to try and wash any grit/dirt out, then follow with the grease.
Good Luck, Ra
