Hi Kirk, anything/but entries on Friday nights are governed by different rules than the bbq comp on Saturday. Since there are many different dishes being prepared most contests allow the cookers to use whatever container they choose. Some teams even turn in their entry in serving pieces that they retrieve after judging. Garnish is almost always allowed with a/b entries. However check with the organizers when you send in your entry to be perfectly clear.
I hope that this answers your questions, if not, send me an email; joehilliard3@bellsouth.net Previous Message
We are new to the SCBA (Smoke Showin’ BBQ) and we had a few questions about turn in boxes at different events. Our first cook was in manning at the Smokin for a cause and I noticed the Friday night turn in boxes confused me. I thought they had to be in styrofoam containers but I saw all sorts of stuff. Can someone give me some insight? Garnish/no garnish? Maybe even a picture or two of past turn-in’s? We are taking the class in February but would like some info before the Beaufort cook off! Thanks!
