a) Thursday, the guys supposed to be doing the work were stuck sitting in my driveway for almost SIX HOURS because the site boss didn't show up until almost noon & then promptely left for a 2 hour lunch. They didn't even start til almost 2:00 and then he sent them home before 3:30.

b) Yesterday, they put in 6 hours (which is short but I'll give them that due to the heat) and unknownst to me dug up the drain lines for our gutters & left the downspout dumping straight into one of the holes they dug for the piers. If it hadn't stopped raining when it did, I'd have had a swimming pool downstairs... The water was literally pouring straight into the hole & the sides of it were collapsing/being washed down. (And that hole is right where the basement walls are broken so badly & leaks the worst - another inch of water & it would have been pouring straight in....)

However, the contractor doing all the destruction (and later the reconstruction) is AMAZING. She & her husband have been going above & beyond. I asked if I could get washer/dryer hookups in the closet of my office (since the steps are becoming a problem) and she jumped right on it. The plumbing was done two days ago, the elctrician just left, her husband built me a platform to raise it for better accessibility, and they'll both be back this afternoon to install the new washer/dryer combo.

I had hoped everything would be done by the time my brother and SIL come back down on Sept 3 but am pretty sure that's not gonna happen. The ones working on the basement are just a mess.... And when they're done, it'll take at least 3 days to get everything rebuilt/back in place. :-(

I'm so stressed out I could just cry....
