It's okay, they can say whatever makes them feel better after that historic beating they just took. Responsible Democrats (is there such a thing) are looking at themselves and evaluating what they may have done wrong, or at least what they could have done better. I just think it's irresponsible use of language...
Between you, Opie, and me.... we will never have to make that choice.

It's much more nuanced. I know that's how they talk on Hannity and Tucker Carlson, but in the real world it is far from black and white....and none of us three will ever know what it's like to have to choose.

I'm fundamentally pro-life, but since 'pro-lifers' don't care for a person once they're born, there really aren't so many options and choices.

I keep open the option and the view that I'll never have to choose. I dismounted the moral high horse about abortion long ago.

But I do think that Kamala rode the abortion issue a little too far. Abortion rights may be important to many, especially to women. But what's more important to women and men alike? Being able to go to the grocery store and put food on the table. She touched on it....but she put it secondary to abortion.

Be glad you can do it and be glad you don't know what it's like to even have a clue of what it's like to escape with your life. But if Trump gets his way, some of this may be realized.

What else will realize is that he cannot possibly keep the promise of deporting 20 million GOD CREATED HUMAN BEINGS while also delivering on the promise of keeping your precious grocery prices low. (and mine too really) Head lettuce is up to 1.99 and 3.99 for most bags of lettuce. Just deport 20 million UNDOCUMENTED immigrants and see what happens.

It's not easy for me to talk about abortion for the reasons I mentioned before. I won't get into what I don't know and expect my uninformed perspective to govern the lives of others.

Valuing created life is why I try to take a humanitarian stance on all issues. It's more of a core value than embracing a 'bill of goods' that is labeled right or left, no matter how you want to reduce the argument.

I am not so sure that a total ban on abortions is in the best interest of mothers or babies.

No matter what the preachers, bishops, pastors and reverends say...... it's possible to believe something immoral but recognizing what harm could be done to public health.

I'm dismayed at the stance of Kamala and the fact that Abortion is a litmus test in the DeomcratIC party.

Children in the womb are not throwaways - but the harm in forcing childbirth on people is equally and in some cases, more damaging than an abortion procedure at an early stage.

Unless my degree has any credentials that states 'expert in womens' healthcare' I am not prepared to impose my morality on the topic.

I basically consider other factors than abortion and I do question the implications of public health in places where there is no access.

Abortions have generally gone down according to statistics. Maybe it's the advent of the smart phone that saved the day, Lord knows people spend so much time on their little rectangular boxes than relate with one another. That's another issue, and while access to information is great, it is creating a sad little world that people are living in.

I used to vote on the issue of abortion at one point in time.....and against it. The hypocrisy of the Christian Right is why you're stuck with the current version of Deeistic thought that you encounter today. My guess is Trump and his staff will rapidly deport any illegals (and yes, according to federal law, they are illegals), any with a criminal history. The people who have gained employment and tried to earn a living here and become part of the citizenship of this country aren't going anywhere, anytime soon.

It's called compassion for our fellow human beings, compassion is not a dirty word. It is not a sign of weakness. Hopefully Trump's long term solution to a broken immigration system includes a path to citizenship for those that deserve it.

People make choices. I can even step back from the creation angle if people don't believe in that.

I have seen evil up close and I don't particularly have sympathy for the ones who make bad choices that harm children, no matter where their papers say they are from.

I don't reduce anyone to less than human...because the Constitution doesn't either. Some states adopt the death penalty and some don't -- and while I think it's wrong -- I at least believe that everyone is afforded due process.

Don't throw more cases in my face as if I'm some kind of imbecile that doesn't sympathize with the victims as well. You won't know what your talking about. As I don't go to the personal level, I'll keep it at the surface. If victims of violence really stir your soul for more than just revenge on the perps...then maybe join some victims families who are calling for an end to gun violence.

Join up -- stand behind the victims, and not just the select ones you try to throw in my face.

I'm just saying, all things being equal, if all violent incidents are equal, they would all move you to the same amount of action as if it were committed by someone who arrived illegally.

If you took a million of those who arrived as non-citizens and were undocumented and another million who were already citizens, you would find the violent crime rate less than that of the citizenry.

You can throw that one case in my face and that one person needs to be dealt with severely, with whatever punishment fits the crime.

But what your mendacious president-elect likes to do is take one case and make it a rallying point. Would he rally around people who were crime victims at the hand of a US Citizen, he doesn't care about that.

He won't deport 20 million people and he won't turn military state guards out to round them up either. There is too much money to be made, and we need people to fill the work that citizens won't do.

SO my point is less on compassion, and maybe you are an Old Testament only guy and don't believe in the red letters. That's all for another day.

But for this day, you're giving into Trump's taking one case and magnifying it as a pretext for mass deportations.

Why aren't the same outcomes amongst the citizen offenders calls for change in policy?

I think the real fear is something else that's totally different than really caring for victims.

But in my compassion, I don't want to offend anyone, because when you've been captivated by mendacity.....the truth is going to annoy you, but it will lamentably not take root and perhaps challenge your thought processes.

My mistake Soccer. In 2020 I believe CNN referred to the Biden victory as a landslide. He beat Trump by a whopping 74 electoral votes. Trump beat what's her name by 86 so you can see how I was confused. LOL

For the record, I'd treat every murderer, child molester and rapist in the same category no matter the nationality. And each of them, in my opinion, are not worthy of sharing the title, "human being or God's children" with those of us who obey laws. I hope you feel somewhat the same. Not at all. First, there are at least fifteen cases we can rattle off committed by gangs and violent criminals who were allowed, if not invited to cross the border.

People who crossed illegally did indeed break the law. 8 U.S.C.1325. Do I think they deserve the same swift kick in the ass as those above? No, and we won't see many of them deported. Too expensive and too time consuming of law enforcement, but it made good political incitement for Trump.

And that group most definitely doesn't deserve the same treatment as those who crossed legally, filed for citizenship etc. Those are the only group of people who should be receiving any type of government assistance.

There are different levels of criminal activity. Thus, misdemeanor, felony, capital, etc. and different levels of punishment for each.
