Apparently, the new commissioner didn’t have the financial oversight his last position maintained and has managed to drain the funding for operation and payroll of the road department. I heard substantial raises were given the 1st contract negotiation and some non essential purchases were made. I wondered why the parking lot is empty during work hours. I believe they also received paid lunches. I’m hearing 4 of the crew took voluntary layoffs. Doing this there health insurance is still being paid from road funds. That is probably why the mosquito abatement program was not enforced last year because the Township was covering the cost of the road department. Now would be a good time to eliminate this useless tax burden.
