Your post takes me back Mr. Chris. I'm one of numerous businessmen from days of old that used to spend our long lunch hours down there playing volleyball or shooting some baskets. In later days we even took on the racquetball courts.
I was so disappointed when the Y closed and moved out to the base in what is basically a work out room. I wish my kids could have known the fun of things that went on in the Y back in the day. Teen Town dances, swimming, basketball leagues. What a place.
When I hear some of the yokels in our town bad mouthing the project that is going on there now it makes me sick. A beautiful old building, still structurally sound would have been torn down if not for this effort. Kudos to the developer. When you hear some of the geniuses in this town that think they know more than a ten million dollar investment firm, it makes me laugh. These types couldn't finance a 76 Volkswagen yet do nothing but put down efforts by people much smarter than they are.
It's typical and that's why I'm surprised a major company would invest in a town where some of the inbreds do nothing but complain.
At any rate, I return to your original post and join you in being happy about the renovation.
