Its how the State allocates the Motor Fuel tax revenue. The Village is allocated a percentage, then a percentage of that amount is distributed to the Township Road and Bridge per an apportional amount. Of the 54.4% remaining of this fund, DOT distributes the following: Muncipalities: 49.1% Counties with population of 1 million or more: 16.74 percent Other counties: 18.27 percent 15.89%: Road Diatrict/Townships - apportioned to each in proportion of total mileage of roads in the State. All of this is based on mileage, census, percentages and multipliers by IDOT once they receive the revenue - and funds are then dispersed through the State Comptroller.
