Not the best prognosis but I do believe there is still hope. There are a lot of what ifs, and or, and buts floating around on the internet. In my previous cancer situation, caused by years of smoking, I found my best information from a couple of sites one being the American Cancer Institute link for lung cancer here: https://www.cancer.org/cancer/lung-cancer.html
I had my treatments done at SLU that I wont go into details of but some experimental things were performed with excellent results. I came out considerably better than expected actually for which I am thankful a full 12 years past my diagnosis. I might suggest there are some very good Cancer doctors in the St. Louis area and I myself chose Doctors that were teachers at the University thinking that if they are teaching the others they must be as good as anyone out there. I have no way of testing the validity of that but just saying thats what I did. St. Louis Magazine has an annual listing of "Best Doctors in St Louis" and its most recent edition lists 12 Doctors for lungs that are all at the Washington University, Center for Advanced Medicine, Jacqueline Maritz Lung Center Center: http//www.stlmag.com/search/location/best-doctors-2017-18/
I am sure there are many not listed in that magazine...just pointing it out.
SLU now mentions "Lung cancer patients now have additional treatment options beyond surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. Tumor ablation is a non-surgical, lung-sparing treatment for early-stage lung cancer. It is a minimally invasive image-guided procedure, performed by a vascular interventional radiologist." that sounds interesting to a non medical person like myself here: https://www.slucare.edu/radiology/interventional-radiology/lung-cancer.php
I wish her luck and hope she does not give up. I didn't and beat the %^^ thing for 12 years now...there is always hope.
