Still not a fan, but this team went about as far as could have been expected. Although i dont blame Shildt for his silly rant, that same rant is probably about as common as you could imagine in pro sports. The only thing is some rookie made his comments available to the entire world which was not good. I think Washington talent wise is better than St.louis, but i think the Braves are better than both of them as well as the Dodgers. Any team can win a series, if the talent does not overwhelmingly favor one team.
I wonder if Shildts rant getting out hurt this team in some way, or was it a coincidence that right after he talked of nobody F'ing messes with them and that they were going to F evrone up that they got F'd up? I actually believe those comments reaching the masses hurt the team in some kind of psychological manner. Maybe the players put extra pressure on themselves in trying not to make their manager and by all accounts a nice guy look bad.
I think they would have lost anyway, but maybe they would have put up a better fight. I heard on sports talk if Freddie Freeman was 6 ft 6 instead of 6 ft 5 the Braves would have been in the NL finals, and also the Dodgers had 6 outs to go and Kershaw pitching with a lead and somehow lost. In pro sports little things can sometimes make a big difference in a game or even in the outcome of a series. Its not always going to be the best player on the team to provide a spark, sometimes it will be just an average player like Anibal Sanchez.
Ozuna is probably out of here, if they can somehow get Anthony Rendon and a masher outfielder they may possibly be back next season. Rendon is a monster and most likely the NL MVP.
