If you’re a parent and you believe your kid is going to wind up on TV some day, there’s a fair amount of delusion there.
The best-case to strive for is that your child enjoys their experiences, learns how to take instruction, overcome adversity and become a great teammate.
If, by the time your child has completed high school, any college wants to offer any type of athletic opportunity, count yourself lucky. Your child is one of a small number to have the skills, dedication and perseverance to call themselves a college athlete.
Bear in mind, the overwhelming majority of kids that play in college will also never draw a paycheck playing their sport. Sports are a means to an end and a great way to help pay for a portion of their education.
To claim politics plays a part in how the lineup is determined is laughable.
This isn’t 1957, 1977 or 1997. There aren’t enough athletes to hold a talented player off the field. Look at the records of the different teams.
If a kid is the best player at their position, they play. If they aren’t, they don’t.
