Granite City does not have the income base to support a dive shop. Diving is a very expensive hobby. There are a handful of shops in the St Louis area and they are located near areas of higher wealth concentration for a reason. The market is already saturated and the people with the disposable income to supoort that hobby aren’t going to drive from miles around to come to GC.

We had a Baskin Robbins. It went out of business because there are many lical ice cream vendors that are cheaper and better. Again, that market is saturated.

There’s a Best Buy in Edwardsville and another in Fairview. You can also order from them online and have it shipped to your house. They’re not going to make the same mistake as Lowes and try to cannibalize their own business by placing another store in a low income area 10 miles from another location.

Rural King? What does Rural King have to offer GC? We are not a farming community and farm supplies are their main business.

The economic developer cannot wave a magic wand and force businesses to come here when it makes no sense for them to open a location in Granite.
