Is it too late? To turn this city around.

So say it is & we will never recover. The real source of income for this city is the steel mill that brings in $4-$5 Million is tax money to this city every year. It should of happen in the last mayoral election, but it did not happen as we elected the same person in.

You don't think the people of this city know what is really going on? Our city leaders is doing nothing to bring in places to him bring business & money in the city. Why is that? Oh that is right thanks to our leaders in Springfield our taxes are too high.

Our city leaders think nothing is wrong with downtown & we got lovely art around & help make the city look good.

Please, it does not help the way the city look with bunch of vacant lots & buildings, buildings that are up to code & very run down, out of town landlords that are not keeping up with propriety & make the tenets handle the problems like with new roofs or anything else.

Does our leaders of city want us to be like East St.Louis? We are slowly going in that way. If nothing changes we will be just like East St.Louis.

Now we lost alot of places:
Shop 'N' Save= Company was bought by new company & only wanted the warehouses & not the stores. They could not find a new owners. Schnuck's bought 19 of them but, the rest closed.

K-Mart= All under performing stores are gone. For years our K-Mart avoided the list then bam we get on it. You wonder the traffic that had why it closed. People say cause of Wal-Mart.

Hollywood Video/Game Crazy= One of my favorite places to rent movies & favorite place to buy new games. Why we lose them? Company was going thru another bankruptcy battle & the landlord raised the rent price. City did not care if we lost them?

Blockbuster Video= Company also going thru bankruptcy. Reason cause of Redbox.

Dave's Movies= One store we lost cause of Redbox also people not returning games. Our location was the last to close. Alton was first, then Madison finally ours.

Lowe's= Reason we losing this cause its under performing. Is it cause people was stealing from there? Is it a fact they they hire people with no knowledge of stuff & if this the place of experts workers of the departments they work. Why did hire people are not experts?

The city does not care if these places close & leave. Most cities will do everything to get filled once the building is empty. Our city does not do that. They let it sit empty & have the roof fall in & the building is condemned.

The old Centeral Hardwear store where ACE Hardwear/Salvation Army store was & Dollar Tree is now at. Owner lives in St.Louis did not want to keep up & I heard lost the properity to the city.

The Salvation Army store/ACE Hardwear needed a new roof the owner said not my problem you handel it. She is the owner she should handel it but, nope she did not.

So is it too late to turn our city around? All we need is a spark to get change going but, we will not have a spark unless we the people change it. Stop turning a blind eye to stuff, or else.
