The more I think about it... I am kind of perturbed by some of this as well.
I was careful not to plead Kavanaugh guilty .. because I do not know. I also do not plead Ellison guilty, because i do not know either.
I have some opinions, but they are as good as the next man.
I just believe that the SCOTUS nominee would be a crappy jurist -- interpreting the Constitutions the way Republicans like to do it.... Favoring the parts favorable to them, and ignoring the Constitution when it is favorable to them.
Kavanaugh is a partisan jurist, who is unable to interpret the law justly and does not have regard for the fourth amendment.
This other issue has created a smoke screen and the crappiness of his ability to be a jurist have been overshadowed by this other issue.
1. It has diverted much needed attention from how crappy of a jurist this man really would be...and the fact that his IQ is somewhere down at Trump-level and his composure and maturity is also at a similar level. If you love Trump above Country, you'll love Kavanaugh. If you love your country, you'll fight like hell to run them both out of Washington. That's just a fact.
2. It has also worked against survivors of abuse and empowered abusers. No folks, your boys do not have to be worried about growing up... All they have to do is be decent human beings and they'll have nothing to fear. If they make Trump their role model, then maybe they need to have some fear. Now, people who have been sexually assaulted will now face an increasing skeptical society that will not believe them, forever leaving them to suffer in silence.
So - basically what I am saying ---
It actually does more harm to our Country than good (meaning it empowers goons like Kavanaugh and Trump and other haters of the rule of law) when we convict a man like Kavanaugh who is still presumed innocent.
We cannot focus on just how far his views are away from the Constitution and how in-line they are with the Republican Party, because of these accusations.
These accusations need to be investigated.
He is a partisan jurist, and will only get into the Supreme Court, because of all the cons who will blindly vote him in no matter what.
I also have mixed feelings on what someone does at 17 years old. Should it ruin their life? Well, sexual assault by a 17 year old can still run another person's life.
He was just a boy and didn't know better...right? Kind of like Brock Turner, right?
I guess there was some luck there... I mean if his name were Michael Brown and he were 18, Laquan Mc Donald and was 17, or if his name were Trayvon Martin and he was 17..... his 'youthful indiscretions' would have been 'dismissed' with a bullet in the ass. Actually they would have been lucky if that was where the bullets actually landed.
Be that as it may, I still don't agree with a presumably innocent man being condemned before a verdict has been issued in a court of law. (I believe in the Constitution like that...)
But I am not going to criticize his accuser either.
He doesn't belong on the supreme court bench for things he is presumed innocent of doing....he doesn't belong on the bench because of his biases. He will be an activist judge and will come in with an agenda. He does not belong on the SCOTUS for those reasons, first and foremost.....
