I see i almost got blamed for something. as i have said before, ive been on both sides of the fence, im non union now but im in the private sector world. there are very few union people doing what i do in the residential field. That being said, I was raised up in General Motors in the late sixties, and when i left, i was an elected union official. I would not want to go near any steel plant today without union representation. I started at Granite City Steel right out of high screwl. I knew within 30 days i didnt want to work that hard, and quit. those are hot dirty and dangerous jobs, and most of us know that. My foreman there gave me some think wooden shoes, and put me on the ovens at the blast furnace. I lasted 3 hours. Both sides there have been greedy in the past, back in the sixties, if you had 10 years senority, you got 13 weeks vacation. Cmon folks,lol aint that a little much? I have seen union waste and ive seen company greed. If its true these fat cats are getting this much money,its shameful. if you want to see why we needed unions in the thirties, go rent the movie Hoffa. you will thank me and bless me. the same thing is going on out here at these so called warehouses. people jumping up and down begging to work, one man i know rides a bycycle out there at 5 in the morning to try to get picked to work, and sometimes have to go back home. The unions, not the gub a mint, gave us the middle class, the 40 hour work week, the suburbs, vacations, breaks, overtime, anda lot of other things we take for granted today. Hopefully both sides can come together to reach an amicable solution for us all. If not, ill bring the big headed roofing nails, wood and some burn barrels. Ill be glad to help in any way I can. Oh, the big headed roofing nails? they will be spread (pointed side up), any scab or foreman, or company man who drives across will need a set of tires.
