Lol, Mr. Adler. You don't have to lead me to the water, it sometimes comes right up in to my field. I'm not a big drinker, either, it hasn't boded well for me or my family.
And, I'm not sure what you mean by "flood control conspiracy"--I hope all who have the ability are conspiring to improve the way storm water moves around here in most any way possible. You looked at the maps, and your first change was also my choice. Thank you for that--better late than never for our affected residents.
I'm still not seeing how that water from the proposed Long Lake Project is supposed to go back uphill that last quarter mile on Lake Drive from Elm Slough to Horseshoe Lake without a pumping station, maybe there is one planned in that 5 million dollar project, but there isn't a lot of room on that road to build one without getting in to peoples' yards?
I respectfully disagree that this is the best way to go, but I will have a front row seat as it apparently will be constructed in my front yard, just feet from my house. I'm guessing construction will take a while and should affect things on my road for some time, maybe slow the drivers down some and possibly restrict access at times. A real boon for my business, too.
The road is already narrow, do you happen to know which side of the road they intend to work from or expand? It may affect me or my neighbors even more than we presently know (which is nothing)...So, yes, I have a few concerns.
I had heard many years ago that it would never be safe in our lifetimes to dredge the mud from the bottom of Long Lake, maybe they were wrong and I certainly hope so. But, maybe not. There needs to be several core samples drawn before any serious discussion happens in that direction, really. Being all privately owned by many different people brings up other problems, too...
At this time, though, it's comforting to know that the pumps that drain Horseshoe Lake are back up and running at better capacity than in the past--thank you for your efforts, there, too.
Thank you again, Mr. Adler, for posting on this site and thread, and addressing some of my concerns. We will have to respectfully agree to disagree on the practicality of the Lake Drive Project, but I will retain an open mind and hope that a different, better solution for our flooding woes is found before that one is implemented.
