This has been happening for several years in the village (Pontoon Beach), maybe 4 or 5 years, could be more. It depends on several items to determine the length of the contract.
This is who generates the electricity. The lines,maintenance and bill still come from ameren.
The odd thing is, when this first started, ameren was a little behind, they ended up buying (or starting) Homefield. It is confusing, as a village board, we held off the first round to do research on how this worked. Even spoke to lineman at Ameren to verify, when the power goes out, they are the workers that make the repairs.
