Thank you Opie for your thoughtful reply. I can tell you have some experience and perspective related to these type of issues. My wife and I are in our late 30s-I was born and raised here and she moved here in her teens. We love the small town feel of GC and most of our family and some of our friends still live here. But more and more are moving out then staying and it is things like this school issue that tips the balance and forces families to make the stay or go decision. We have one child in Kindergarten and one in fourth. Our Kindergartner starts school at 8:20 and gets out at 2:35. Our fourth grader does not start until 9:25 and get out at 3:40. My wife and I both work full time but we are one of the lucky ones having a grand parent who is willing and able to help. My neighbor, a single mother with a 3rd grader, has to pay for before and after school latch key this year due to the time changes, at a cost of something like $320 a month. She's on a tight budget and this is the deal breaker for her. I expect to see a for sale sign in her yard any day. I have not spoken to a parent yet who said they like this change and think it is a good idea. The Attendance center concept may be educationally sound but so was the way things were last year. My fourth grader now has 28 students in their class compared with 23 last year. So larger classrooms, longer days due to long time on the bus, traffic problems for GC, frustrated parents....I smell a grass roots movement a brewin
