But, she has chosen this path that puts her at odds with an immoral law.
As a some one who was brought up Christian, that tried to "pray the gay away" at one point...

Did you stone your kid to death when he back talked you earlier today? I sure hope so, because those parts of the bible your thinking about command that's what you should do.
Don't look to the Old Testament to provide Modern Day interpretations of what is "Moral".
If there is a God, and he in-fact struck down Sodom, a closer examination of the scripture would show, God struck them down, not because they were "Gay" but because they were Evil.
Let me make a list of everything Jesus ever said about being Gay:
