    Change? What change? Archived Message

I just want to say how disappointed I am with the residents of Granite City and the latest vote on April 7th.
Everyone can gripe and complain about things not getting done in the city. Bad politics, Bad School Board not allocating money correctly, No vision for the city, etc, etc.
If everyone thought that change needed to happen, then why the hell did all the same people get voted back into the offices they held. 6 new school board candidates, no one voted in. All board members kept their positions. Get ready for changes there, NOT. City Council, All the Aldermans retain their positions except the one outspoken person who actually gives a damn about this city, Brenda Whitaker. I have not seen or heard any city council person be as involved in the city as she has. It's a sad day in this city. If we want change, It has to start at the top, from the mayor on down! I read all the papers and blogs and I may have missed it, but I haven't heard word one from our mayor or council members on what is going to happen with the US Steel layoffs, and what direction our city will go to recover or sustain. If they have, please inform me, I would like to know. All I know is that if this city plans on growing, we need new ideas, new people, and a new vision. The only change that can happen is if we make it happen.
