"Long known for high educational standards, the Granite City School District continues to reach for new heights. For example, in April 2006, St. Louis Magazine conducted a study comparing the public high schools in St. Louis City & County, as well as the counties of St. Charles and Jefferson in Missouri and the counties of Madison, St. Clair and Monroe in Illinois. Unsurprisingly, in 2006 Granite City High School ranked #1 in Madison County in graduation rate (97.2) and 3rd in dollars spent per pupil ($4,320)." Granite City Education Statistics Website
