Whisker, I would argue this. Public education isn't the problem. It's government interference in public education that is the problem. People like Quinn, Obama and yes Bush sticking their noses in where they have lost touch with reality. They, in an effort to make themselves look interested in education continue to use standardized testing as a measuring stick to how schools perform. It's bull shi*. Teachers I talk to say they are being forced to teach the test instead of working with their students to teach processes by which students will continue to learn the rest of their lives. I believe it is the goal of this particular education to reduce "public education" to lower economic student slavery so they can continue to develop a voting base. Students from wealthier families will opt out and be vouchered into private schools where they will develop as individuals able to think on their own. Politicians, not public education is what has derailed the train.
