I wouldn't be surprised if most of us had run ins with teachers who we're sure shouldn't be allowed to be around children let alone teach. I've had and heard from classmates warnings and later have had some of those teachers and not found them to be so bad. Strict maybe, maybe quirky, but not evil. I had Miss Jenny as a music teacher at Maryville School (1959-61) and I remember her being grouchy. We all have our own stories.

But that old battleax Miss Mak-lee-ay made Miss Jenny look like a saint. I went with my parents downtown St. Louis for Christmas shopping and we ran face to face into her and her husband, all gussied up in a fur coat and jewelry. She was all smiles with my parents as she hugged me and told them how she thought I was such a good student. I wanted to kick her as hard as I could in the shins and knock her off her high heels...lol...! Yeah, witch? Why don't you tell them how during a spelling test I dared to take my eyes off the paper and you saw me and lunged over to me, huffing and puffing in my face like a crazed maniac wanting to choke me, yelling and screaming at me and wrote a big fat "U" with a red crayon that covered the whole page. Just because I didn't keep my eyes glued to the paper. Witch.
Looking back, I think she may have had a serious mental or emotional problem.

Mr. Hanson, Mr. Dalla Riva and Mr. Moore were the male business teachers I remember from high school (I graduated in '67). Was the one you told of one of those?
