Principal Grover Norwood and my father Wm E. Sides were best friends. I went to his school. My Dad and Mr. Norwood loved to swim in the Mississippi River. Mr. Norwood got caught in a whirlpool, and my Dad rescude him. Anyway I never got in trouble anyway, I KNEW BETTER. My first OLD GRADS NITE I WENT TOO, years ago, I saw him and his wife. She and I corresponded for a long time. Mr Norwood was ill and unable to go. I must send her a letter soon.They lived in Collinsville. Cannot think of a teacher I didn't like, HOWEVER the lady swimming instructed at the YMCA was MEAN. She had a heavy accent and I could not understand what she said!!!I was afraid of water, she finally picked me up out of the pool and sat me DOWN VERY HARD on the floor. My grandfather was paying for my lessons and took me out of her stupid class!!! She would use me s an example for WHAT NOT TO DO. I was embarrassed an did not want to be there.She would say Don't do what Sandy does, DO WHAT I TELL YOU. HAHAH I laugh when I think about her!!! Sandy S
