I work in "Higher Education" and I'm seeing it more and more that students are NOT ready for their freshman year of college. More students are having to take AD courses (Academic Deficiency)their first year, which do not count towards graduation hours, just to get prepared to take regular college courses because their high school did not prepare them. It takes 5 to 6 years on average for the average student to graduate from college these days. I am also getting more parents calling and trying to "fix" things for their kids in college. Kids are so use to their parents doing everything for them these days, that they don't know how to take care of their own business. They want to be treated like adults, yet still want mommy to do all their talking for them. They do not want to take responsibility for their own actions. It's always some one else's fault. Just my professional opinion having worked in "higher education" for 22 years.
