Yes, Fairmount Park is a local landmark, for sure, but the casinos want it gone and have paid a lot of money to strangle it. It's also the largest employer in Collinsville, and most of the trainers are local residents, too.
Used to be much more lucrative with 120+ days of racing a year--but it's harder for anyone to make a living running only 68, now.
