For approving the bond issue for the needed repairs at the Library.

Granite City has a GOOD public library. I have been to others and GC has a great section for reference, non-fiction, childrens...and even a decent section for high school and undergrad subjects. Yes, much of the undergrad research probably is better done at the university library, Granite's Library could be counted upon at times.

I do not go into public libraries so much these days...but for a city its size...Granite has a Library it can still be proud of...and I am glad that voters felt likewise.

The issue passed in overwhelming fashion.. (3480-1403) I am not sure about the hangups of those who disapproved.

They're probably that stodgy lot that voted against the high school renovations back in the day.. Having been within a few years after being a HS graduate back then, I had no idea why anyone would have wanted to say no. That was one of the only signs allowed in our yard in our family home growing up.

If society is against learning and education...then don't expect good things for its future.

Hell..even with a good library and an opportunity to pursue a good education...the situation sometimes seems dicey. All the worse, if either of these two institutions (libraries and schools) falter.
