Mr. Baker had better be aware of the Driver's license status of all the Namioki Township vehicle operators. On January 30, 2012 Commercial Driver's License requirements were placed into effect. Class A,B,C,ad D CDL's are explained in detail at the website of the Illinois Secretary of State. www.cyberdriveillinois.com. Any person that operates a commercial motor vehicle on public right-of-ways must abide by these Illinois State Laws. Classification of the driver's license is determined by the GVWR (Gross Combination Weight Rating ) of the vehicle or vehicles being towed or operated. There are special provisions for Township Employees in the regulations, but the provision are for Townships with less than 3000 population and relate to pushing snow and spreading salt. Major liability to Namioki Township, the Supervisor, and the vehicle operator is a risk that is taken when vehicles and machinery are operated illegally, should an accident occur. There is also a section of eligibility and disqualification in the CDL explanation of requirements that deal with suspension, cancellation, revocation, DUI, and DWI convictions. These State Laws apply to everyone, regardless of political affiliation.
