Election Follies Already Starting at Nameoki TownshipArchived Message

Proper procedure and due process of an electoral candidate isn't important and doesn't matter, anymore in our election process?
I just witnessed a complete disregard for our Illinois electoral laws here, locally, at Nameoki Township.
If I had filed my candidate petitions for Pontoon Beach Village Trustee in a similar manner to how one township candidate has presented theirs, you can bet I would have been challenged, and then thrown off of the ballot by the Electoral Board of review (or whatever they call themselves)--and rightly so.
The objections to the many blatant infractions on the candidate's petitions presented were far from being "petty", as described by the candidate and board. No, the objector only asked that the election procedure for that candidate correctly follow the laws clearly outlined in the easily obtainable Illinois candidates guide for elections, 2013--the same as all other candidates are expected to do, and did, and have always done.
Instead, the "good old boys" of Nameoki Township have just by-passed those laws to promote their chosen one and put him, incorrectly and undeservedly, on the ballot.
The actions of most members of the Nameoki Township electoral board, today, were, in my eyes, despicable.
Helen Hawkins was the only one who voted to uphold the integrity of our election process.
SHAME to those others--in my opinion they have no business being in their honorable positions.
I can't believe the absolute gall of what I just witnessed. But, then again, knowing who was involved, I can't say I'm surprised.....
