Perhaps that is true - don't know - haven't had to pay the full premium. Point was, is that it is our responsibility to do so. It is not our employers responsibility to cover our health insurance premiums for us. It is a benefit, much like unemployment and accident and sickness benefits.
When someone else begins paying for something for us, a good thing always turns into a group who take advantage of it - who bleed the system. We all know that is true and it hurts those who really need the assistance and you have seen that yourself. There are folks who need help - wouldn't want to take that away. There are a lot of folks who just take advantage.
When we remove the consumer from directly purchasing the service or goods by one or two buffers, things tend to get out of hand and prices skyrocket, because we are no longer wary shoppers but oblivious consumers.
