"I also think the whole sex crime registery should be stopped. It protects no one." I have to disagree with you on this opinion. If I have a new neighbor move in next door, and that neighbor is sexually aroused and attracted to children, I would want to know.

The law is in place to protect, by allowing people to be aware of someone who has been convicted of a sexual crime.

"Stigmatizes people, who have served the punishment for there crime, indefinitely. (wether or not reform was achieved, when possible)"

Most (not all) sexual offenders will be the first to admit, there is no "reform" you can not reprogram the mind of a sexual offender. In my opinion there is no punishment to harsh for anyone sexually offending a child. In fact, the "scarlet letters" you mentioned would be a fitting punishment for anyone convicted of sexually offending a child. C.M. (Child Molester) right in the middle of their forehead would suit me just fine.

Now, I do think that in the case of statutory rape the circumstances should be considered. Such as, if there is a willing 16 year old sneaking around behind their parent's back with a 19 year old...and it is a deliberate act from both parties...I do not consider that rape.

In a case of public urination, I find that aggravating enough that I'm undecided on that issue. Just because someone is drunk enough or stupid enough not to care, does not give them the right to risk exposing them self to the public. As disgusting as the act is, I don't believe that a careless, ignorant mistake should ruin someone's life by labeling them a sexual offender.
