KMOV News now reports that on Thursday, another Granite City resident faced charges stemming from alleged child abuse. Matthew Alan-Scott Boone was charged with two counts of felony aggravated battery to a child for choking his son. He is currently being held in the Madison County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail. Authorities have declined to give the precise age of the child, but they did say that he is younger than eight.
Police were called by the elementary school the child attended when he came to school Thursday morning with injuries on his body and neck that suggested he has been grabbed and choked. Detectives then came to the school and met with officials as well as a representative from the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. Boone was arrested later that afternoon.
Authorities have declined to comment on whether they have responded to any allegations of abuse at Boone's residence in the past. However, it is known that this past September, Boone was charged with felony aggravated battery for stabbing a man at his home during an argument.
The condition of Boone’s son has not yet been released; however, he is reported to be in protective custody through DCFS.
