Seriously Dee, these ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS brought this upon themselves when they decided to circumvent the process required by our government to be in this country.
In other countries, these folks would have been thrown into prison, no questions asked.
If someone wants to enter this country and enjoy our freedoms, rights and resources, let me them do it legally.
Plain and simple.
Agreed, the reason why many of them cross the border illegally, is because for most, it's next to impossible to enter legally, old, outdated quota laws limit the number of people allowed into the country legally, it's hard for most to cross in and live legally unless they have relatives who are citizens, and/or are well educated/have a valuable work skill. I hope these laws are someday changed.
However, though I understand why they do it, I still make no excuses for them, it's illegal, it's wrong, it causes a drain on our country financially (services received but not paid for in taxes, especially if they have US born children). That is on top of the security risk posed by having millions of people here we know nothing about, who they are, why they are here, and if the had past criminal or terrorist connections. Also, the fact that they can cross illegally (showing how porous our borders are) is unsettling at best.
In short, it's wrong, it's illegal, period, those that are arrested for this crime (and it is a crime), bring the repercussions upon themselves and their families, just the same as if they robbed a bank or killed someone, they are to blame for the impact on their family, and what happens to them, not federal agents performing their duty by enforcing the law (which isn't well enforced to being with).
