Well if you want statewide crime statistics, it can be arranged, the trend is the same. Why so much focus on Chicago? It is the murder capital of Illinois. I mean it's staggering if there are 400 or so murders in a year in Illinois - about 3/4 are going to happen within the bounds of the City of Chicago. East St. Louis, Waukegan, Springfield, Peoria, Harvey --- now towns like that might get a little bit of action in a year. Granite City usually gets 1 or 2 murders a year. But a big part of Illinois violent crimes happen in Chicago. How Chicago trends in that category - so trends the state.
