We all hit a nerve tonight, haven't we? Feeling guilty about this? no you guys really are stupid. If they developers did not build apartment buildings that were affordable enough for hardly anyone to live in that should have been their loss, and no one else's, and definitely not the taxpayers of the state of Missouri and the city of St. Louis. They should have sold the building in that case. they were given the money to develop the inner city property. no one could afford to rehab it or live there... it was either keep it vacant and run-down or give grants or subsidies to renovate and bring people downtown. interpret that how you wish - but i paid my rent every month and NO ONE's taxes went towards my rent... the people of the city and missouri helped pay for the renovation...which is why they offered a cheaper rent than they would have to in order to cover the costs of the renovation had they done it themselves. i did not live there for free...i paid an expensive rent...a rent higher than my HOME i rented in granite city with an attached 2-door garage. it was just made affordable because the city of st.louis is kind of large city in this country...and they have alot of money to do that kind of stuff.
