Make sure you get a high enough Wattage Generator. You do not want electric start generators because that requires a battery plus gasoline to run the bugger. You also want one that has low oil indicator and will shut off when oil gets low to avoid engine over heating and blowing up. I have an AC plug/cord on my furnace for this reason. Any electrician or HVAC can do this for you. We have a 7000 watt generator. It will run the furnace, TV and a couple of lights. We turn the TV off every couple of hours and plug the frige in for a couple of hours to keep things in there OK. At night, when lights and TV are off, we plug the freezer in. Not all generaators will do everything you want it to do.
