I would skip the wii and get an xbox 360 with the kinect. It is a bit more expensive that going the wii route, but with the kinect you dont have to hold anything, or stand on anything to make it work. Do some reading on the kinect, it has full body tracking, the camera can tell if its not you, you can talk to it and it understands. The top workout type game for it right now is called Dance Central, I used dance dance revolution and a diet to lose 50 pounds over a six month period a few years ago (this was on the playstation 2), so I know for a fact that the dancing games work, even if it isnt labeled "Workout". The bonus to getting the xbox over the wii is that it is also a home media hub that you can stream your own videos/audio/photos in. It also has Espn and Netflix on it. The wii does have netflix as well.

As an owner of both the wii/wii fit and the xbox 360 I would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have.
