Knaack said she's discouraged when she sees runners at group runs or races plugging into their iPhones or other music players, saying it takes away from the social aspect of the sport. I love how she decides the aspects of the sport. I know several runners who like to run because it's their ALONE time, their time NOT to be sociable. I can't run due to health reasons, but when I was trying to walk/job, I used my iPod and headphones, and while visually I was aware of my surroundings (how hard is it to look both ways at the corner?), the music did help me go to "another place" which helped me push on. They're going too far when they try to take away my music.
