No 3Dee.... this attendance person is NOT a nice person at all. Complaint after complaint. When my daughter in law was in school and her mother passed away...this not so nice lady made this poor grieving child bring in proof that her mother passed! My boys did go to school today but I will tell you that our road was horrible. Driving in this doesn't really phase me much due to the fact that I used to do home visits in the Alton area on those icy hills, the fact of the matter is this "What gives this woman the authority to unexcuse any student once the parent calls in and states that they will not be sending their child in due to weather conditions." To me that is undermining MY authority.....I am their parent and if i feel that the roads are too bad then they will not go. A good friend of mine works as a secretary at one of the schools in our district and she said "what~no we have a weather excuse" we excuse kiddo's who's parents call them off due to weather, especially on days like to today. We also need to remember that there are kids that live out by old alton road and out farther where the roads are super bad. I know as a school aged child snow days were few and far between except for the blizzard of 82. bottom line is that this lady is not nice...she is hateful and has a nasty attitude. I do not care who she THINKS she is but she needs to follow proper protocol...not make up her own rules as she goes along. She also needs to remember that we parents are taxpayers and pay her salary...
