Speaking Out. I did see the thread about the alleged drug dealer getting shot in the chest. Very disturbing. Very sad. I hope someone learns a valuable lesson from the whole ordeal.
Walmart is here to stay? Really? Back in 2008, City Hall received approximately 3,000 letters opposing the expansion of our Walmart. Pretty small percentage of people for a town of this size but we are still here and still aware and still not happy that Walmart is not leaving but expanding. Thanks for the heads up.
I apologize to gary if I hurt his feelings. I was indeed being sarcastic but it will still make me cringe when I read all the positive, warm and fuzzy little blurbs about Walmart. It is simply how myself and my family feel. I'm sure there are many people out there that dislike K Mart more than Walmart. I have friends who shop at Walmart and they all know how I feel. You can't find American made clothing at any of the department stores anyway. And yes ...... competition is good. But I will always shop the mom & pop shops if at all possible. I alone cannot keep them in business. The difference between them and Walmart is simple: the customer service. They will go above and beyond to have you as a customer.
The sales tax thing? That's way over my head. I'm not sure how much sales tax we spend in town stays in town? I thought it all went to government agencies?
Anyway ..... sorry to highjack the thread and beat a dead horse with the whole Walmart subject.
