If that's still the best man for the job, then so be it. It's somewhat a secondary concern, but I don't believe those choices represent Granite City well.

I'd probably like to also see the city hire someone for mayor outside the network of civil servant jobs, namely police/fire.

Again, that's not the only consideration, but someone well versed in economic development, or maybe some other credentials may give the highest office in Graniteland a different approach.

Granite City's mayor is not on my ballot...but I'll happily take the conversation out of Washington with you.
