It appears at least one board member has issues with this due to the " lack of qualifications " of Mr. Adler. I'm sure this is a temporary appointment as one day this bug will go away. At any rate, glad to see the county is getting on top of this thing.
Board Member
I sent this out the other day. You all should know that this has nothing to do with MESD. It has to do with another unqualified hire by Kurt Prenzler.
I am now waiting to see if they file paperwork to get reimbursement for his pay from the Stare or Federal
Parkinson Raises Concerns About Unqualified Hire to lead COVID-19 Efforts in Madison County
EDWARDSVILLE, IL – In response to the public health crisis of COVID-19, the Madison
County Board Chairman appointed former Metro East Sanitation District (MESD) Director,
Steve Adler, as Special Administrator for handling COVID-19 relief efforts in Madison County,
despite having no medical or public health experience. Madison County Board Member Mike Parkinson is raising concerns about Adler’s lack of experience and his ability to properly handle the situation.
“In this unprecedented public health crisis where the lives of our most vulnerable citizens hang in the balance, I was appalled to find out that former MESD director Steve Adler was put in charge of protecting our community despite having no medical or public health experience,” said Parkinson. “Steve Adler has a history of cutting corners and putting people at risk because of his decisions.
His appointment shows a lack of concern for those in our community that are most
vulnerable to COVID-19 – our seniors and those with pre-existing conditions.”
This will be Steve Adler’s fourth county appointment in the past four years. Before being appointed by Prenzler to handle COVID-19 in Madison County for an annual salary of $95,000, Adler was previously dismissed from the position of executive director of the Metro East
Sanitation District.
“As we all make sacrifices and do our part to slow the spread of coronavirus, we expect our
elected leaders to put the health and safety of Madison County residents ahead of political favors and use their authority to hire experts that are familiar with public health and emergency management. Steve Adler does not have the background or experience to protect our communities during this critical time.” said Parkinson. “I encourage everyone who shares my concern to let Chairman Prenzler know our disappointment of him using taxpayer money to put someone without experience in charge of the greatest public health threat this county has ever seen.
they did not fail, because they did what their country asked of them....
