Toni Corona heads our response and does a fine job. Tony Falconio is the head of Emergency Management. I support them both as good leaders.
I do have 30 years of health care experience. As a manager, at that.
12 of those years I worked with IDPH COVID Chief David Baker, whom Prenzler had the good sense to appoint to the MadCo Mental Health Board. He works upstate today.
I was reelected to the County Board (twice) and served on the Health Department Commitee during that tenure.
Today together we obtained 9 surplus Oxygen Concentrators and 8 Nebulizers from an closed Nursing home that Busey Bank donated. We can offer area hospitals that didn't have them before. Chances are we`ll need them; I guess even a blind squirrel finds an acorn every once in a while.
In the mean time, let's steer clear of picking political nits over whose relative got laid off when I was at MESD. Its solvent. (It was when I left anyway)
If we are lucky enough not to need the hospital, we are all staring down the barrel of a deflationary depression here folks. Unemployment could be 50% in towns like Granite City soon; time for politics to step up, not down.
Stay healthy out there folks, and I enjoyed my time in Granite City.
