That could be it but when it is trying to charge the battery when it's actually turned on, the light blinks during charging, this wasn't a blinking light.

The laptop is a cheap $11 one I won at an auction, it was advertised as a W7 laptop and it did have W7 on it but it was actually originally an old Vista laptop with a very slow processor.

I bought it just so I could retrieve all of my W7 backup files from an ext hard drive, which I did, but the W7 was outdated enough that I couldn't get a browser to work on it other than a very old version of Firefox. Anyway I revived it by installing the chrome os but it's still old and extremely slow because of the slow processor so I'm not putting money into it by buying a battery for it.
