After the Second World War,Britain was too busy trying to rebuild its shattered economy and begin the process of de-colonization to pay much attention to events in Cambodia and Vietnam. The US was the driving force in postwar Western foreign policy.Britain merely took a back-seat! : The Americans seem to have problems with I suspect the Americans have had problems supporting kings ever since they failed to support George III back in 1776! I guess it just goes against their nature to want to install a monarch anywhere. It seems that dear old King George has much to answer for!!
: few mistakes during and after WWII. So they
: supported the Communists in Vietnam. They
: also backed up Tito in Yugoslavia instead of
: King Peter. Later they supported Lon Nol
: instead of Prince Sihanouk in Cambodia. And
: they failed to stand up for Shah Reza
: Pahlavi in Iran. And of course they
: supported Karzai instead of Zahir Shah in
: Afghanistan.
: supporting Kings. Perhaps they have some
: revolutionary romantic idea that Kings are
: always bad and everyone who is
: against the King is good.
